Help with which() compatibility

Could someone run a test to determine what Matlab does when which() is
called with a directory, rather than a filename?

For example,

which .

should probably be a good enough test.  But otherwise,

which /home            % Linux
which c:\windows  % Windows

Just copy and paste the output into an e-mail.
