There are no plans to overload this function. The wiki page is not
maintained by the maintainer of 'optim' (which is the name of the
Octave package, not 'optimization'). Up-to-date information should be
available at:

https://octave.sourceforge.io/optim/package_doc/

Olaf

Why would you call importing all the matlab functionality overloading it?

Shall you say why it would be unnecessary?

Splines 1.3.3 has been released on Octave Forge and is available for
download. [1]

This new version contains bug fixes to the csape and csaps_sel functions [2].

I don't think Olaf believes that adding new functions to the optim package would put a burden on the package.
We were merely talking about the concept of overloading functions, see:

Understood.

So are developing the other functions like iter, jacobian, etc under optim set in plan?

it appears  you're set up to receive a daily digest of the mailing list messages.   Possibly this is in addition to immediate copies of messages people reply to you on?  you can manage your mailing list settings at the page linked at the end of the email:  https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/help-octave

the last field at the bottom lets you enter your email and change subscription options.  I don't like the digest as it is hard to reply to individual emails and maintain coherent threads, since threads are grouped by subject line.  I have it email me all messages individually, and set gmail to filter them out of my inbox and into a separate folder (tag) for scanning later.
