(1) Ability to use arrow keys on command line to recall prior commands
(2) Ability to use arrow keys on command line to position cursor to specific character without destroying existing text

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the suggestions.

(1) This already works. (Up/down arrows.) What situation are you in (OS,
Octave version, CLI or GUI) where it isn't working for you?

(2) This already works in many situations (CLI, GUI on Windows). There's
an open bug for fixing it on the Mac GUI:
https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/index.php?55913

Hi Andrew,

I’m on a MAC using Octave GUI.  
I’m guessing the CLI works for (1), but can’t get the GUI to work
As for (2), yep it’s a bug
